The Decker Library at Ava High School is dedicated to facilitating student learning and the campus curriculum. We aim to provide students with a supportive learning environment to meet their educational needs and seek to show students resources to assist them on their learning journeys. Further, the library intends to promote a love of reading, as this will ultimately create a strong and independent learner. The library currently houses over 10,000 print resources.
Library Hours: Monday - Friday 8 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
Tutoring and Completion of Credit are available in the library: Monday-Friday 3:30- 4:30 p.m.
Ms. Taylor graduated in 1989 from the MSU with a degree in History and a minor in English. She attained librarian certification in 1999. She then went on to earn a Master's in Guidance and Counseling at MSU in 2000. Although she has been in the Ava School District for 30 years, this is Ms. Taylor's 21st year as a librarian. She began as a secretary for the high school counselors' and followed with three years as the middle school secretary. Following 3 years as a high school English teacher, she served as middle school librarian for one year before settling in the high school library. She enjoys reading all kinds of books as well as scouring Pinterest for recipes she will never make and surfing the Internet to find tools to make everyday life easier. Since 2005, Ms. Taylor has served as NHS adviser. She also served on the MANHS executive board for several years. Ms. Taylor has also been Senior Adviser for more than 15 years.
